We are proud to share that SUSMAT-RC’s Director, Prof. Youssef HABIBI, recently participated in the 2024 Pan Africa Chemistry Network (PACN) Congress, held at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. This year’s congress marks 16 years of PACN, an initiative by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) aimed at building a strong and self-sustaining science base in Africa.
The event brought together scientists, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss how chemistry research in Africa contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). With a theme of Sustainability, key discussions focused on:
- Environment –> Addressing pollution, climate change, and circular economy strategies.
- Energy –> Innovations in clean energy production and storage.
- Food & Agriculture –> Enhancing agricultural sustainability with green chemistry and AI.
- Water –> Solutions for water management, quality, and access.
- Health –> Advancements in drug discovery and healthcare solutions.
The PACN Congress is a key platform for collaboration, networking, and knowledge-sharing among African chemists and global experts. We are honored to be part of such a dynamic and impactful event!
