RCS Highlights GreenChemAfrica: Africa’s First Green Chemistry Training School offers inspiration to students and early-career scientists
We are excited to share a groundbreaking achievement in Africa’s scientific community! The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) has highlighted the success of GreenChemAfrica, the first dedicated Green Chemistry Training School in Africa, which took place at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Morocco.
This inaugural training school brought together over 50 students and early-career chemical scientists from 16 countries for an inspiring week of lectures, workshops, and hands-on learning. Led by world-renowned experts, the program focused on sustainable chemistry and its potential to address global challenges.
Professor Youssef HABIBI, the driving force behind the school and Director of the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT – RC) at UM6P, called the launch a ‘dream come true.’
Certified by the RSC, this training school has already made its mark as a significant event in Africa’s scientific calendar, and we are excited to look forward to the second edition!
