Abdelali EL ASRI earned his bachelor’s degree in organic chemistry from the Faculty of Semlalia Marrakech, which provided him with a solid foundation in the field. He then obtained a master’s degree in organic chemistry for health and industry from the same institution, where he expanded his expertise in applying organic chemistry within industrial and healthcare settings. Currently, he is in the second year of his PhD program at the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT-RC), where his research focuses on designing and synthesizing novel bio-based thermosetting and vitrimer materials for various applications.

Amine Boussetta earned his Bachelor’s degree in Technical Analysis and Quality Control from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at Sultan Moulay Slimane University in Beni Mellal. He then pursued a Master’s degree in Organic Materials, Polymers, and Formulation at the same university. Currently, he is in the first year of his PhD program at the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT-RC) of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, where his research focuses on the development of smart, bio-inspired coatings for slow-release fertilizers.

Asmae AIT YAHIA obtained her Bachelor’s in Physical Chemistry from the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Ibn Zohr University. After her undergraduate studies, she pursued a Master’s degree at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at Cadi Ayyad University, specializing in Research and Development in the Physical Chemistry of Solid-State Materials, focusing on polymers and the environment. Currently, she has joined the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT-RC) as a first-year PhD student. Asmae’s research is centered on the development and evaluation of lignocellulosic-based systems for enhanced gas and water treatment efficiency.

Aya Glioui obtained her bachelor’s degree in physics and chemistry from École normale supérieure (ENS) at Fes. She then joined the École normale supérieure (ENS), Moulay Smail University in Meknes to pursue her master’s degree in research fields in physics chemistry. During her M2, she acquired expertise in employing deposition techniques for thin films on 2D materials and knowledge of characterization tools at the Institute of Applied Physics at UM6P. Aya is currently a PhD student at the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT-RC), where her research focuses on organizing thin films.

Aya RHAROUBI is currently a PhD student at SusMat-RC. She obtained her master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from the Faculty of Sciences Semlalia Marrakech (FSSM). Her research focuses on the production of greener biobased compounds by developing innovative and efficient computational models. Leveraging her expertise in chemistry and computational techniques, Aya is committed to employing cost-effective, environmentally friendly approaches to develop sustainable biocompounds. She is also deeply engaged in integrating in-silico approaches along with experimental techniques to validate her results, contributing to the innovation and progress of the SusMat department.

Khitar Badr Eddine holds a bachelor’s degree in Analytical Techniques and Quality Control from the Faculty of Science and Techniques in Beni Mellal, where he gained expertise in precision analysis and quality assessment. He furthered his studies with a master’s degree in Materials Chemistry at the Faculty of Science and Techniques in Marrakech, focusing on polymers and their environmental applications. Currently, Khitar is pursuing a Ph.D. at the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT-RC), where his research centers on developing advanced, sustainable hydrogels designed for efficient water sorption, contributing to innovative solutions in materials science.

Ghizlane AIT SAMGUANE a Master’s graduate in Research and Development in Physico-Chemistry of Solid State, specializing in polymers and their environmental applications from the Faculty of Science and Techniques in Marrakech. Now a first-year PhD student at SUSMAT-RC, she is focused on developing multifunctional, fully bio-based polycomplex materials for agricultural applications. Her passion for sustainable solutions drives her research, aiming to contribute to innovative developments for a greener future.

Ilyass EL ARKOUBI graduated with a master’s degree in applied chemistry and environment from the Faculty of Science Oujda. In 2022, he joined Mohammed VI Polytechnique University (UM6P) as a PhD student within SUSMAT-RC. His thesis focuses on the development of sustainable biobased porous materials through emulsion templating, specifically PolyHIPEs, with the goal of applying them in various fields and contributing to the advancement of environmentally friendly solutions in material science.

Khalid HAFID earned his Bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry from Moulay Ismail University, Faculty of Science and Technology in Errachidia, where he developed expertise in analysis and synthesis. He then chose to deepen his knowledge in organic chemistry, specifically in polymers and biopolymers, through a Master’s degree in Production and Valorization of Natural Substances and Biopolymers at Cadi Ayyad University, Faculty of Science and Technology in Marrakech. Currently, as a new PhD student (2024/2025) at SUSMAT-RC, his research focuses on harnessing the potential of Moroccan natural fibers in cementitious materials.

Meriem ES-SAKHI obtained her B.Sc. in Heterocycles and Organometallic Catalysis and her Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from Cadi Ayyad University. She is currently a first year PhD student at the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT-RC) at UM6P, where her research focuses on the development of non-woven electrospun nanofibers for medical applications. Her work integrates both experimental and computational approaches to advance the design of innovative biomaterials with enhanced therapeutic properties.

Meryem Jamal earned her Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry and Quality Control from FST Mohammedia, where she developed a strong foundation in chemical analysis and quality assurance techniques. She then pursued a Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry at the University Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah, further enhancing her expertise in analytical methods and applications. Currently, Meryem is in the second year of her PhD program within the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT-RC), focusing her research on developing bioinspired fibers through the wet spinning process, with the aim of creating advanced materials for various applications.

He then earned a master’s degree in the Chemistry of Bioactive Compounds from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez. Currently, he is a first-year PhD student at the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT-RC) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), focusing his research on the design and synthesis of innovative monomers and polymers.

Mohcen Chahid holds a bachelor’s degree in Heterocycle, Organometallic, and Catalysis, and a Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry for Industry and Health from the Faculty of Science Semlalia (FSSM) in Marrakech. During his M2, he focused on synthesizing bioinspired anticancer agents in a Coordination Chemistry lab in Toulouse. He gained practical experience as a research assistant at UM6P in Benguerir. Currently, as a first-year PhD student at the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT-RC), Mohcen’s research is centered on pioneering approaches to plastic waste recycling.

Nora Hssaine earned her B.Sc. in Chemistry from Mohammed V University of Rabat, where she also completed her M.Sc. in Chemistry and Materials Science. In 2023, she joined SusMat-RC at UM6P as a research assistant and later began her Ph.D. focusing on the development of bioproduct-based emulsion formulations for liquid agri-input systems. Passionate about science and technology, Nora also enjoys exploring new perspectives through reading and enjoying movies during her free time.

Oumaima ALMIR is a PhD student at SUSMAT, holding a master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from the Faculty of Sciences Semlalia Marrakech (FSSM). Her research is centered on developing sustainable strategies for controlling fertilizer dust, particularly through vegetable oil-based anti-dust coating systems. Leveraging her background in chemistry, she aims to create effective and environmentally friendly solutions. Additionally, she is deeply interested in valorization, exploring how waste and by-products can be converted into valuable resources. Her work aligns with SUSMAT-RC’s mission to advance innovative and sustainable materials technologies.

Samira Karroum completed her master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech. She is currently pursuing a PhD at the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT-RC), where her research focuses on developing innovative solutions for the catalytic thermochemical conversion of Moroccan residual biomasses into carbonaceous materials using a fast pyrolysis method. Her goal is to create sustainable functional materials for advanced applications. Her academic journey has been driven by a strong desire to contribute to advancements in this field.
